Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the breathtaking alpine landscape of Castelrotto, Huber Schwaige is a charming restaurant that captures the essence of traditional South Tyrolean cuisine with a fresh, farm-to-table approach. Located at Compatsch 14, this delightful eatery is a must-visit spot for anyone exploring the stunning Seiser Alm (Alpe di Siusi) region.

Huber Schwaige specializes in hearty, locally sourced dishes that celebrate the rich culinary heritage of the area. Among the many highlights, their signature knödel—a beloved local specialty—stands out as a true comfort food masterpiece, delivering a perfect balance of texture and flavor. Guests can enjoy the satisfaction of knowing much of the menu is crafted from fresh ingredients harvested directly from Huber Schwaige’s own farm. The display of their homemade products at the entrance is a testament to their commitment to authenticity and quality, inviting diners to savor a genuine taste of the region.

The dining atmosphere perfectly complements the food, offering guests a warm and inviting space that feels both rustic and refined. Whether you choose to sit inside or take advantage of the idyllic outdoor seating, you’re treated to some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Dolomites—an experience that leaves a lasting impression. As Peter Lau aptly shares, “Picturesque and charming! Sit outside the views are amazing... Food and service was top notch!” This combination of scenery and service makes every meal here memorable.

The attentive and gracious staff enhance the overall experience, providing friendly and prompt service that makes you feel genuinely welcome, as noted by several visitors like Jeff Gelber who appreciated not just the food but the kindness extended to their family. A delightful touch that sets Huber Schwaige apart is their offering of grappa samples—a smooth, warming finish to your meal that captures the spirit of the region.

Perfectly positioned just a short walk from the cable car arrival point, Huber Schwaige is an ideal dining destination for nonskiers and outdoor enthusiasts alike seeking a flavorful and satisfying respite. The genuine ambiance, delicious food, and breathtaking surroundings combine to create an unforgettable mountain dining experience that travelers like Martyna Dambrauskaite and Mariana Penasso fondly recommend and would eagerly return to.

For those who want more than just a meal, Huber Schwaige delivers an immersive cultural experience where every bite tells a story of tradition, nature, and heartfelt hospitality. This isn’t just dining; it’s savoring the soul of South Tyrol.

Make sure to reserve your spot early, especially if you’re looking for a peaceful, early lunch—arriving as the doors open is a perfect way to enjoy the serenity and freshness this exceptional restaurant offers.

Highly recommend stopping here for lunch if visiting Seiser Alm. We got there as it opened at 11 for an early lunch with the kids and they couldn't have been more gracious. The food was delicious, especially the local specialty knödel. Everything we ordered we enjoyed. A lot of the food is fresh from their farm and they display their homemade products out front. They gave us a sample of the grappa, which was delicious.

Picturesque and charming! Sit outside the views are amazing. I’m still thinking about my experience here a month from my trip back. Food and service was top notch! They even offer liquor shots when we were ready to pay the bill but we declined since we have a long walk back to the cable carts.

We had a fantastic lunch break here—easily one of the best spots you could ask for in the area. The view was absolutely unbeatable! The food was satisfying and just what we needed after a long morning outdoors. Was it the best meal I’ve ever had? No, but the experience and setting make this place unforgettable. The service was kind and impressively quick. Would recommend and come back myself.

This restaurant is a true gem! The food is delicious, the service is warm and attentive, and to top it all off, it offers a beautiful view. All of this is just a short walk from the cable car arrival point. It’s an excellent winter option for non-skiers who want to enjoy a pleasant and tasty meal while visiting Alpe di Siusi. Highly recommended, it was one of the best meals I had while traveling in the region!

The food was absolutely delicious Staff are very friendly and they also offer free shots. Overall it was such a pleasant and delightful experience. The only problem is that the portion is a bit on the small side. Or maybe it was just too tasty that I wanted more ;)

Dining there with the scenery was magnificent. Portion sizes were big too. Had a relaxing time soaking up the views and enjoying the burger. Patty was slightly saltier than we preferred but the fries were made perfectly. Service was really friendly and they offered us schnapps after our meal!

After the hike in the vast meadows, this is a perfect spot to refuel! We ordered burger and the veal (food of the day)— very juicy meat with fresh veggies and crispy chips! Veal is tasty and a classic dish, added with fresh portion of salad. We were in awe of the view, and aesthetic beaut of this resto. We sat outdoors and they gave us blankets and they turned on their heater. Location’s perfect as it’s near the gondola.
